I'm beginning to worry that I spend too much time concerned with the technological trappings of the world around us. I think Lord Vader put it best when he admonished Imperial Admiral Motti not to be too proud of the technological terror he'd constructed—after all, the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force. Or, for that matter, the power of the Internet to slowly suck your life away, gurgling down a series of tubes. But seriously, when you close your eyes at night and just see an endless parade of dancing cell phones, multifunction printers, and digital music players, you can be sure of one thing: your dreams are going to be seriously messed up, man. So, you may ask, what do video camera glasses, a gaming projector, and a compact bag have in common? Other than all being featured in this week's edition of Gadgetbox, I have absolutely no idea.
Official: Nokia N96 Super Smartphone Revealed to the World
Rumors have been swirling around on the Internet some time now about the Nokia N96, because it was supposed to meld the brawn of the N95 with the gaming goodness of the N81. As far as we can tell, this glossy black wonder totally delivers on all fronts. It really isn't much of a stretch to say that the Nokia N96 super smartphone marries the best of both worlds for the N81 and N95. On the one hand it has stuff like Symbian 60 and a 5MP camera like the N95, but it has more of the appearance of the N81, along with the N-Gage gaming platform. But the N96 brings more to the table too. There's 16GB of internal memory in this puppy, which is double what the N95 8GB offers. What's more, the display is a glorious 2.8-incher, they've tossed in DVB-H for digital TV, a kickstand for desktop viewing, and funky backlit touch buttons that morph to suit the current needs.
Xavier takes aim at 10th straight win
The Flyers have now lost three of their last four outings, and their 5-7 conference record clearly overshadows a much more impressive 17-8 overall mark. Xavier rolled to a 69-43 victory over Dayton in the first meeting between the teams back on January 24th, but the Flyers still own an 80-65 lead in the series. Through 27 outings, Xavier is scoring 77.2 ppg while limiting the opposition to 62.7 ppg on 40.1 percent shooting from the floor. The Musketeers are outrebounding opponents by 6.2 rpg, a key to their success. It is hard to find many teams as balanced offensively as Xavier, as the team has six double-digit scorers in the lineup. Josh Duncan leads the pack with 11.6 ppg, while Drew Lavender is netting 11.3 ppg to go with 122 assists and only 48 turnovers.
Mr. Broad Builds His Dream Museum
His latest project is the Broad Contemporary Art Museum, a new wing at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) that's billed as one of the largest spaces in the country devoted exclusively to contemporary art. "BCAM" debuted on Feb. 9 with a swanky on-site dinner party attended by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes, and a bit of headline-generating controversy worthy of a Hollywood premiere. The building opens to the public on Feb. 16. Broad became a billionaire several times over by catering to the needs of post-World War II families. His first company, KB Home (KBH), is still among the nation's largest homebuilders. He also built Sun America, now a part of American International Group (AIG), into the nation's largest seller of annuities.
Wild Card -- Tuesday PM
I look at it today, I think that parents can play one of the most critical roles in the development of their own children, and be there for them, their cheerleaders, and be parents. And I believe that is my first and highest priority. So while Ive contemplated it and I think it would be exciting, this is still more important to me, -- Sandy Patano of Idaho U.S. Sen. Russell Brand referring to the Queen and her naughty bits
Life Support is a conventional drama looking at the HIV/AIDS crisis facing America's Black community. The film star Queen Latifah as a reformed crack addict and HIV sufferer who's making amends with her family and herself by running for a HIV outreach centre. Nelson George's social cause soap was based on his HIV positive sister Andrea Williams and has a simple message – denial isn't an option. This is rammed home hard as every character has a link to the virus and many scenes take place in the support group where women discuss coping with day to day living, such as how to tell a new partner you're positive and the benefits of condoms for girls. The female centric melodrama revolves around Latifah's Ana, a hard nose ‘my way or the highway' type, desperate to regain the love of the teenage daughter Kelly (Rachel Nicks) she neglected when she was a user.
