Singapore began two days of verbal presentations on the Pedra Branca dispute today, while Malaysia will launch its counter-arguments on Wednesday. Singapores Ambassador-At-Large Professor Tommy Koh said that the Singapore team has prepared well for their presentations today: We are in good shape. We have all done our first draft of our second-round statements. The team is energized (and) ready to go. On Malaysias presentation at the International Court of Justice so far, Professor Koh said: The Malaysian team was extremely eloquent and they succeeded because of their eloquence in putting forward a much better case than the intrinsic case of Malaysia. The island of Pedra Branca and its two surrounding out-crops, Middle Rocks and South Ledge, lie at the eastern entrance to the Strait of Singapore.

Notes: Buehrle aligned for Opening Day

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The pitching alignment for the White Sox first week of Cactus League action was released Friday afternoon. And without manager Ozzie Guillen making the news 100 percent official, the spring setup seems to line up Mark Buehrle for his sixth Opening Day start in the past seven years.

Buehrle gets the call for two innings to open Monday's intrasquad game, followed by Javier Vazquez being scheduled for two in Tuesday's intrasquad action. John Danks opens the regular portion of the Arizona schedule on Wednesday afternoon at Tucson Electric Park, followed by Jose Contreras on Thursday at Hi Corbett Field.

According to Guillen's comments earlier in the week, the rotation's third spot would have a direct bearing on the rotation's top spot as he didn't want Buehrle and Danks pitching back-to-back.

DirecTV still covets DISH

DirecTV is still interested in buying smaller rival EchoStar but doubts U.S. regulators would allow such a deal. The two companies tried to merge in 2002, but the deal collapsed under opposition from the Federal Communications Commission, which believed it would be anti-competitive.Mike Palkovic, chief financial officer of DirecTV, said a merger would be "desirable but not feasible" as the market environment had not changed.

"We'd be nuts not to look at it," Palkovic told Reuters. "But the regulatory issues haven't gone away." According to Leitchman Research Group, DirecTV has 55 per cent of the satellite TV market, or 15.1 million subscribers, and EchoStar Communications Corp. has 45 percent, or 11.9 million subscribers.

DirecTV said in February it was in talks with EchoStar to create a wireless high-speed network, which would put them in a stronger position to compete against cable operators and telephone companies that sell Internet, video and phone services.

Review: Nikon Coolpix P50 digital camera

Nikon's P50 high-end digital compact camera swims against the tide of wafer-thin devices.

The camera's 3.6x zoom lens and the fast Expeed processor borrowed from Nikon’s SLRs are encased in a traditional-looking, relatively bulky, body.

Clearly, then, this is a camera for those who look for good value and appearance, with online stores offering the P50 at around £150.

Power comes courtesy of two regular AA batteries, providing 140 shots. Even with batteries and an SD memory card inserted the P50 feels lightweight, despite its looks.

It does boast features such as a spongy, leather-look grip, and both an optical viewfinder and a 2.4in screen. A light sensitivity range from ISO50 to ISO2000 is broader than most in its class.

Marriage processions on main roads banned

He asked the marriage palace owners to inform the police if the hosts of marriage parties did not comply with the orders otherwise they would themselves be booked for the violation.

The SSP held a meeting with owners of 65 marriage palaces in and around the city. He said his major concern behind holding the meeting was traffic and security reasons.

He also asked them to put close-circuit cameras in the parking, main hall, at the entrance and exit points. They were also directed to install metal detectors at the entrance. The hosts would be required to identify their guests so that no unwanted person got inside the marriage palace and create trouble.

The SSP also asked the owners to get the police verification done of the staff working in the palace. The owners should have all past records of the worker along with his photograph and permanent address.
