| JVC GR-D750
The final word: The GR-D750 is a solid little performer that punches well above its weight; offering impressive image quality for entry-level users. If you're on the lookout for a cheap miniDV camera, you could certainly do a lot worse than this. ON PAPER at least, the GR-D750 is the unmistakable runt of the JVC litter. With its low image resolution, rudimentary feature set and cheap looking design, we certainly weren't expecting much; yet it turns out that looks can be very deceiving. From its attractive price tag to its above average video performance, this is one of the best budget offerings we've seen in quite a while. It represents excellent value for money and is a perfect introduction to digital video - provided you can live without the bells and whistles. The GR-D750 is a standard-definition camcorder that records video to miniDV tapes.
Slain Navy Diver's Family Still Hoping for Justice
The West German government denied U.S. requests to extradite him, putting him on trial there instead. Found guilty of hijacking, hostage-taking and the murder of Stethem, he was sentenced in 1989 to life imprisonment. But in December 2005, despite U.S. objections, Germany freed Hamadi and allowed him to return to Beirut, where some reports said he had rejoined Hizballah. Since Hamadi walked free, Stethem's family has been campaigning for Lebanon to hand him over. They met with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in February 2006. A year ago, Hamadi was added to the FBI's list of "most-wanted terrorists," established after 9/11, with a reward of up to $5 million on his head. (Two other Hizballah members indicted in the U.S. along with Mughniyah in connection with the TWA hijacking, Hassan Izz-al-Din and Ali Atwa, remain at large and are also believed to be in Lebanon.
Report: Miami bank-owned properties up
Lenders have taken ownership of 217 percent more properties from borrowers in the greater Miami area in the first 45 days of 2008 than they did in the same period in 2007, a report from Condo Vultures said. In January 2008, lenders took back 641 greater Miami properties, up 252 percent from January 2007, when 182 properties were taken back. In the first 15 days of February, lenders have taken back 217, up 138 percent from the 91 properties taken in February 2007, according to data gathered by the Bal Harbour-based real estate consultancy. Lenders ended up with these properties -- called real estate owned (REO) -- after foreclosing on borrowers and not being able to sell the properties at the minimum price set at the court-ordered auction. "Lenders that are now in possession of these properties are scrambling to figure out what to do with this real estate," said Peter Zalewski, a principal with Condo Vultures, in a news release.
Immortalized Behind The Wheel
JANUARY 2--Turns out the Oregon drunk driver busted with an astounding .55 blood alcohol content has previously spent time in the spotlight. And by spotlight we mean a Brooks & Dunn video in which she gyrates while wearing cutoff shorts and snakeskin boots. Meagan Harper, 30, was discovered last month passed out in a car parked outside a pizza place and charged with drunk driving. Harper, who has several prior DUI busts, is being held in the Clackamas County jail on $50,000 bail. Years before she became famous for her alcohol intake, Harper starred in the video for "Rock My World (Little County Girl)," a single from the 1993 Brooks & Dunn album "Hard Workin' Man." In the 3:44 video, which was shot near Portland and can be viewed below, a teenage Harper is first seen behind the wheel of a T-top Camaro.
Racism shame of monkey chants
In the stand at Cowal Stadium that day, there was a crowd to watch the Scottish Youth Club Association (SYCA) league match, made up of players from the under-14s Dunoon team who had played earlier. A few minutes after kick off, Paul got his first touch of the ball - and was promptly greeted by monkey chants from the stand. "I heard the first monkey chant and I did feel hurt and wanted to do something," said Paul. "I was going to speak to the referee at half-time but when it happened again, he put the boys doing it out. He came up and said how sorry he was about it." The referee that afternoon was Ian Cunning, a local man who shared the training facilities with various Dunoon teams. "I thought my ears must have been deceiving me, so I played on," he said. A minute later, Paul sent the ball for a corner and even louder monkey chants pierced the air.
The Best Way to Set Up an Online Banking Account
And check your e-mail regularly to stay on top of payment alerts and other notifications. Beware of scams like phishing. This popular scheme involves sending an email that instructs the recipient to update personal information, such as a bank account or Social Security number. The message may appear to come from the recipient's bank, but actually links to a website set up by the scammers in order to steal your information. You can protect yourself. Never send your account information via e-mail, and don't click on a link in an e-mail from someone you don't know. In addition, use a strong password -- one that is too complicated to guess. (Your birth date or child's name isn't a good password.) Change your password regularly, and take advantage of every layer of security your bank offers. For example, Bank of America's BAC SafePasswill send you a text message containing a one-time passcode.
