How rich do you feel?

It seems, according to most of the posts here, that feeling rich is vastly different from actually being rich.

The 'feelers' speak of happiness, and being emotionally rich, because of family, health, friends, etc., while the 'actuals', with, no doubt, a stern look, speak of working hard, and saving your money, yet, at the same time, they seem to frown upon those considered less fortunate.

Why don't they just spend some of that hard earned cash to find the happiness that the 'feelers' enjoy.

Perhaps they would be less bitter toward the segment of society who are down on their luck, or to those who choose not to try to change it.

Am I knocking those that work hard? No.

Knowing that all you own came from the fruits of your labor is very satisfying.

Wednesday's total lunar eclipse may be a doozy

It's a good thing none of us are cavemen, or Wednesday night we might find ourselves on a panicked run for ironwood clubs and sharpened mastodon bones.

Around 8 p.m., when a total lunar eclipse darkens the moon and imbues it with shades from copper to crimson, we unlike our forebears - will have the advantage of knowing we're in for a really good show.

Cavemen weren't so lucky.

"In the distant past, people took lunar eclipses as omens of bad things to come. They didn't have the means to understand what was happening," says Claude Haynes, Gilbert sky watcher and East Valley Astronomy Club president.

For early man, a blood-red sphere hanging in the sky was a scary thing, a message from an angry god.

Kodak Ups Ante in Phone Camera Quality

In December, the picture-taking pioneer wrapped up a four-year, $3.4 billion overhaul aimed at transforming itself from the world's biggest film manufacturer into a leader in digital photography. Kodak slashed its work force to 26,900 from 64,000. Its stock has tumbled to near 30-year lows, and many Wall Street analysts have expressed unease over whether its transformation can succeed.

Goodale, fooling no one, says, "We will decide as the official opposition when we think the time is appropriate to bring the government down. When that time arrives, we will in fact do that.&8221;

Read: if we went into an election now, we would be slaughtered.

The LPC have decided it would be inappropriate to be slaughtered now, so they have chosen to be slaughtered later.

Gilmore's gold in first round

WORLD champion Stephanie Gilmore swooped into the new season as the pacesetter in round 1 of the Roxy Pro surfing tournament on the Gold Coast yesterday.

The 20-year-old Snapper Rocks board rider posted 15.84 points, the day's top heat score, which included the best ride in good 1.2m waves at Duranbah Beach.

Gilmore was the outstanding surfer of the 2008 world tour launch, beating 15-year-old Hawaiian prodigy and Roxy Trials winner Carissa Moore.

She said she was relieved to finally don a contest shirt after a blur of commitments as world champion.

"It's been a bit crazy with all the awards and activities and stuff, but it felt good to get back in the water," Gilmore said.

"I guess I was a bit rusty at the beginning, but I started gaining more and more confidence throughout the heat and felt pretty good by the end."

Local knowledge helped Gilmore pick the best waves and take command of the heat.
